Day 1: Guwahati to Bomdila (338 km / approx. 8 hrs)

Start early and hit the road towards Bomdila. Stop along the way at Tipi, home to over 7,500 orchid species on the banks of the Bharali river. Keep your camera ready — this stretch is full of waterfalls and mountain views. Check into your hotel and rest up for the days ahead. Overnight in Bomdila.

Day 2: Bomdila to Tawang (176 km / approx. 6 hrs)

After breakfast, set off for Tawang. En route, pay respects at the War Cemetery before climbing up to Sela Pass at over 13,700 ft — famous for its high-altitude lake and, in winter, a blanket of snow. A short stop at a nearby waterfall breaks up the drive before you check in at Tawang. Overnight in Tawang.

Day 3: Tawang – Bumla Pass (92 km one way) – Tawang

A big day out. Visit Pangong Tso and Madhuri Lake — formed after a 1950 earthquake and named after the actress who once shot a film here. Then head to Bumla Pass, one of the most remote and dramatic border passes in the world, known as the route the Dalai Lama took into India. If time allows, end the day with a visit to Tawang Monastery. Overnight in Tawang.

Day 4: Tawang to Bomdila (190 km / approx. 7-8 hrs)

After breakfast, drive back to Bomdila. Once you check in, visit the twin monasteries — Gontse Rabgyaling and Thub-Chog Gatsel Ling — followed by the Bomdila View Point for sweeping views of the Himalayan range. Spend the evening browsing the local market. Overnight in Bomdila.

Day 5: Bomdila to Guwahati (335 km / approx. 9-10 hrs)

After breakfast, begin the return drive to Guwahati, arriving in time for your onward flight or train, with a bag full of memories.
