From the tea gardens of Assam to the snow-capped Sela Pass and the ancient monasteries of Tawang, this journey takes you through Bhalukpong, Dirang and Tawang, right up to the Indo-China border at Bumla Pass. A perfect pick for road trip lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone chasing the raw beauty of Arunachal Pradesh.
Prices may vary based on travel dates, hotel availability, and seasonal demand.
Start early from Guwahati and drive through Assam's green tea estates towards Bhalukpong, the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh. Visit the Tipi Orchid Research Centre before checking in for an overnight stay.
Complete your Inner Line Permit formalities and drive along the Kameng River. Stop at Bomdila Monastery, apple orchards, and Sessa Orchid Sanctuary en route to Dirang. Visit Dirang Dzong and the hot water springs before settling in for the night.
The most scenic drive of the trip. Cross the breathtaking Sela Pass (13,700 ft) with its frozen lake, pay homage at Jaswant Garh War Memorial, and pause at Nuranang Waterfall before arriving in Tawang. Evening free to explore the town at your own pace.
Head to Bumla Pass (15,200 ft), close to the Indo-China border (special permit needed). Visit the stunning Sangetsar Lake, popularly known as Madhuri Lake, and P.T. Tso Lake on the way back. Return to Tawang for the night.
Explore Tawang Monastery, one of Asia's largest, and Urgeling Monastery, the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. Visit the Tawang War Memorial and end the day with a relaxed stroll through the local Tibetan markets.
Drive back through winding mountain roads dotted with apple and kiwi orchards, stopping at local craft centres. Overnight stay at Shergaon.
An early start for the final leg, driving through valleys and riverside roads back to Guwahati, with drop-off at your hotel, airport, or railway station.
