Overview

Nagaland doesn’t just show you its culture, it pulls you straight into it. This 6-day journey drops you into the middle of the Hornbill Festival, Nagaland’s biggest celebration of tribal life, then takes you off the festival grounds and into the wild green folds of Dzükou Valley. Warrior dances, tribal cuisine, war history, and a trek through one of the most photographed valleys in the Northeast, all packed into one easy, unhurried trip with Dream Safar.

Price may vary based on travel dates, hotel category, and seasonal demand during the Hornbill Festival period. Contact Dream Safar for current availability and customized itineraries.

Itinerary

Expand All
Day 1: Arrival in Kohima

Land in Dimapur and drive up to Kohima. Settle into your hotel and ease into the hill air; the rest of the evening is yours to explore the town at your own pace.

Day 2: Hornbill Festival – Naga Heritage Village

Head straight to Kisama Heritage Village for the Hornbill Festival. Walk through tribal morungs (traditional huts), watch warriors in full ceremonial gear, and get a feel for how Nagaland's many tribes have kept their identity alive.

Day 3: Hornbill Festival – Dance, Music & Food

A full day back at the festival grounds, this time for the performances: folk dances, live music, and Naga food stalls worth spending an afternoon on. Try the smoked pork, bamboo shoot dishes, and local rice beer if you're up for it.

Day 4: Trek to Dzükou Valley

Trade the festival crowd for total quiet. Trek up to Dzükou Valley, rolling green hills, seasonal wildflowers, and views that don't look real. Carry good shoes and a light jacket; the weather up here changes fast.

Day 5: Kohima War Cemetery & Local Market

Visit the Kohima War Cemetery, immaculately kept and genuinely moving, built where the Battle of Kohima turned the tide of WWII in the East. Spend the afternoon at the local market picking up Naga shawls, beads, and handwoven textiles.

Day 6: Departure

Check out and transfer to Dimapur for your onward journey home.
