There’s a version of North East India that most travellers never get to see — the one beyond Shillong and Kaziranga. This journey takes you deep into four states in one trip: the waterfalls and living root bridges of Meghalaya, the war history and tribal villages of Nagaland, the floating lake and temples of Manipur, and the hills of Mizoram. It’s a long, rewarding drive through some of the greenest, least-crowded corners of the country, and by Day 12 you’ll have covered ground very few tour packages even attempt.
Dream Safar puts this together as a comfortable, well-paced road journey — private vehicles, handpicked stays, and a route designed so no single day feels rushed.
Final price may vary with travel dates, hotel availability and season.
Land in Guwahati and head straight for the hills. Break the drive at Umiam Lake for photos, then continue to Cherrapunji and check in for the night.
Morning at Dawki on the Umngot River — kayaking, boating, ziplining, all optional and all worth it. Overnight camping by the riverside.
Long, scenic drive into Nagaland. Arrive in Kohima, a hill town shaped by Angami, Rengma, Kuki and Zeliang Naga communities, and settle in for the night.
Visit Kohima Village (Bara Basti), one of Asia's largest and oldest villages, then drive out to Khonoma — a 700-year-old Angami settlement famous for its terrace farming and its resistance against the British in 1879.
Before leaving, see the Catholic Cathedral atop Aradurah Hill and the Kohima War Cemetery, where over 1,400 soldiers from the Second World War are laid to rest. Pick up handloom souvenirs at the local emporium, then drive to Imphal.
A full day around the city — Kangla Fort, Khonghampat Orchidarium, Khwairamband Bazar, Shree Govindajee Temple, the State Museum and the Zoological Garden.
Day trip to Loktak Lake, India's largest freshwater lake, and Keibul Lamjao National Park — the world's only floating national park. On the way back, stop at the INA Memorial and the Vishnu Temple in Bishnupur.
A long transfer day into Assam. Evening free to relax in Silchar.
Cross into Mizoram. Arrive in Aizawl by evening, with time to settle in and unwind.
Explore Bara Bazar, Luangmual Handicrafts Centre, the Mizoram State Museum, Durtlang Hills and the Berawtlang Tourist Complex.
Head back towards Silchar, with the evening free at leisure.
Final transfer to Guwahati for your flight back home.
