Day 1: Arrive Delhi

Land in Delhi and check into your hotel. In the afternoon, head out on a guided city tour covering India Gate, Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan, a local Hindu temple and the towering Qutab Minar. Wrap up the day at Humayun's Tomb before returning for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Delhi – Varanasi

Fly to Varanasi. En route to your hotel, stop at Sarnath, where Buddha gave his first sermon — visit the Dhamek Stupa, Ashoka Pillar and the local museum. Once settled in, explore Varanasi's ghats, Banaras Hindu University and the Bharat Mata Temple. As evening falls, take a boat ride on the Ganges and watch the Ganga Aarti ceremony from the water.

Day 3: Varanasi – Bodhgaya

Rise early for a sunrise boat ride past Varanasi's ancient ghats. After breakfast, drive to Bodhgaya, the town where Buddha attained enlightenment. Visit the Mahabodhi Temple and sit beneath the Bodhi Tree for evening prayers.

Day 4: Bodhgaya – Rajgir – Nalanda – Patna

Drive to Patna, stopping at Rajgir, where Buddha delivered many of his sermons on Gridhakuta Hill, and Nalanda, home to the ruins of one of the ancient world's greatest universities. On arrival in Patna, visit the Patna Museum before settling in for the night.

Day 5: Patna – Kushinagar – Lumbini

Visit Kushinagar, the place where Buddha took his final breath. See the Ramabhar Stupa and the reclining Buddha statue at the Mahaparinirvana Temple. Continue on to Lumbini, crossing into Nepal to reach Buddha's birthplace.

Day 6: Lumbini

Spend the day exploring Lumbini in depth — the Ashoka Pillar, the sacred garden, the Maya Devi Temple and the pond where Buddha's mother is said to have bathed before his birth.

Day 7: Lumbini – Kapilvastu – Sravasti

Visit Kapilvastu, where Prince Siddhartha spent his childhood, then continue to Sravasti, where Buddha spent 24 monsoons of his life. Explore the ruins of Sahet-Mahet, Angulimala's Cave and the ancient Jetavana Monastery.

Day 8: Sravasti – Lucknow

Drive to Lucknow, the elegant city of nawabs. Spend the afternoon on a guided tour soaking in its Indo-Persian architecture and rich cultural heritage.

Day 9: Lucknow – Delhi

Fly back to Delhi. In the afternoon, explore Old Delhi — the Red Fort, bustling Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid and Raj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi's memorial.
