Your Meghalaya journey begins with a scenic 3-4 hour drive from Guwahati, passing the beautiful Umiam Lake as you climb into the cooler, greener hills of Meghalaya. Check in at your Shillong hotel and settle in for the evening.
Explore the "Scotland of the East" — start at Ward's Lake for a peaceful morning walk, visit the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, and spend time at the Don Bosco Museum, a seven-storey showcase of Northeast India's tribal cultures. Wrap up at the scenic Shillong Golf Course.
Visit the two-tiered Elephant Falls, then head to Shillong Peak for panoramic views over the city and beyond. In the afternoon, walk through the Mawphlang Sacred Forest, a centuries-old grove protected by Khasi tradition and home to over 400 plant species.
Drive to Dawki for a boat ride on the Umngot River, famous for water so clear the boats appear to float mid-air. Continue to Mawlynnong, Asia's Cleanest Village, to see the Living Root Bridge and the Sky View bamboo platform. In the evening, head to Cherrapunjee for an overnight stay.
Visit Nohkalikai Falls, India's tallest plunge waterfall, followed by Mawsmai Cave, Thangkharang Park, and Arwah Caves. Later, drive back to Guwahati (approx. 6-7 hours), taking in the changing landscape along the way.
After breakfast, transfer to Guwahati Airport for your onward journey, carrying home memories of Meghalaya's clouds, waterfalls, and hills.
