Tucked away in India’s far northeast, Nagaland is a land of misty hills, warrior tribes and a culture unlike anywhere else in the country. This short getaway takes you from Dimapur into the hills of Kohima, where colonial history, war memorials and untouched Naga villages come together for an experience that stays with you long after you’re back home.
Prices may vary depending on travel dates, hotel availability and seasonal demand. For customised itineraries or group bookings, get in touch with Dream Safar.
Arrive at Dimapur railway station or airport, where our representative will receive you and drive you to Kohima. Check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing, or take a short stroll around town before settling in for the night.
After breakfast, head to the Kohima War Cemetery, built in memory of the soldiers who fought here during World War II. It's a quiet, dignified place, maintained beautifully by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, with rows of bronze epitaphs that tell their own stories. From there, drive to Khonoma village, about 21 km away — known as Nagaland's first green village and the birthplace of the Naga political movement. Spend the evening at leisure before heading back for an overnight stay in Kohima.
Drive back to Dimapur, once the seat of the ancient Kachari kingdom. Check in to your hotel, then head out to explore the old Kachari ruins in the afternoon. In the evening, wander through Dimapur's lively local market, well known for goods traded in from Myanmar and China. Overnight stay in Dimapur.
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Dimapur railway station or airport for your onward journey home.
