Tucked away in India’s far northeast, Manipur and Nagaland are two states that still feel undiscovered. Misty hill villages, tribal culture that hasn’t changed in generations, a lake with floating islands, and markets run entirely by women — this trip takes you through all of it at an easy, unhurried pace. Dream Safar has put together this 8-day journey for travellers who want more than a checklist of sightseeing spots, and are looking for a real, offbeat experience in one of India’s most culturally rich corners.
Prices may vary based on travel dates, hotel availability, and seasonal demand.
Book this tour with Dream Safar and experience Manipur and Nagaland the way they’re meant to be seen — through their people, their villages, and their stories.
Land in Imphal and drive straight to Kohima. Once you've checked into your hotel, head out in the evening for a walk through the local market, where Naga vegetables, herbs, and fresh fish give you your first real taste of the region. Overnight stay in Kohima.
A full day exploring Kohima — the War Cemetery, Kohima Village, the Sale Emporium, and the town's church. After lunch, drive out to Jakhama village for a closer look at Angami Naga life. Overnight stay in Kohima.
Spend the day in one of Nagaland's most well-preserved tribal villages. Walk through the settlement, stop at the local museum, and visit the community-run Touphema Village Resort, built and managed by the Angami tribe. Overnight stay in Kohima.
Head out early to Phek, one of Nagaland's quieter, less-visited districts. The drive takes you past Zanibu Peak, Pfutsero, and Dzudu Lake — all set against forested hills that few travellers ever see. Overnight stay in Kohima.
Drive to Imphal, the capital of Manipur. Keep the rest of the day free to relax and settle in. Overnight stay in Imphal.
Visit Loktak Lake, about 53 km from Imphal — the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India, known for its floating islands called phumdis. From above, the lake looks scattered with tiny islands, though they're actually clusters of vegetation drifting on the water. Overnight stay in Imphal.
Visit the Manipur State Museum and the Shri Govindajee Temple. In the evening, take a walk through Khwairamband Bazaar, a centuries-old market run entirely by local women traders. Overnight stay in Imphal.
After breakfast, transfer to Imphal Airport for your onward journey. Tour ends here.
