Day-Wise Itinerary Day 1: Arrival – NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport to Phuentsholing

Begin your Bhutan adventure with a scenic drive from NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra (IXB) Airport to Phuentsholing, the gateway town on the India-Bhutan border. Settle into your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure.

Day 2: Phuentsholing to Thimphu

After breakfast, set off for Thimphu, Bhutan's charming capital city, winding through forested hills and mountain roads. On arrival, visit the majestic Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan's civil government and religious authority, beautifully lit up in the evening.

Day 3: Thimphu Sightseeing

Spend the day exploring the best of Thimphu:

  • Folk Heritage Museum – a glimpse into traditional Bhutanese rural life
  • Kuensel Phodrang – home to the giant Buddha Dordenma statue and panoramic valley views
  • Changangkha Lhakhang – one of the oldest temples in the valley
  • Tashichho Dzong, Buddha Dordenma, and Memorial Chorten – iconic landmarks blending spirituality and architecture.

Day 4: Thimphu – Dochula Pass – Punakha – Paro

Depart Thimphu and drive towards Punakha via the stunning Dochula Pass, offering sweeping views of the Himalayan range on a clear day. Continue to Punakha Dzong, set at the confluence of two rivers and considered one of Bhutan's most picturesque fortresses. Visit Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility, before continuing on to Paro.

Day 5: Paro Sightseeing

A day dedicated to discovering Paro's rich heritage:

  • Kyichu Lhakhang – one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan
  • Drukgyel Dzong – historic ruins with a story of victory and resilience
  • Rinpung Dzong – a fine example of traditional Bhutanese architecture
  • National Museum – housing Bhutan's art, history and culture

(Note: The famous Tiger's Nest Monastery hike can be arranged as part of the Paro sightseeing, subject to itinerary customization.)

Day 6: Paro to Phuentsholing

Bid farewell to the mountains as you drive back to Phuentsholing (approx. 150 km / 5–6 hours), carrying with you memories of Bhutan's serene landscapes and gentle way of life.

Day 7: Departure – Phuentsholing to NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport

After breakfast, transfer to NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra (IXB) Airport for your onward journey, marking the end of a peaceful Himalayan escape.
